The effect was both uplifting and fascinating and inspired Fair Isle style gloves in 4 cheerful colors: sky blue, cream, rust and yellow. These gloves feature a cream colored 2 x 2 ribbed cuff, sky blue borders at the wrist at fingers, and windmills in 3 colors staggered across sky blue yarn. A provisional (waste yarn) thumb was employed to reduce knitting complexity, speed the knitting and provide a streamlined thumb.
The four-color whirligig gloves were knitted in Knit Picks' cream, sky, yellow and twig colors of 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. A fingertip guide was used for the stranding technique. Needles, yarns, guide and the Independent Designer Pattern (IDP) are available from Knit Picks:
PaletteTM Solid Cream (23730), Sky (23724), Yellow (23710) and Twig (23739), 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, Fingering weight, 50 g (1.5 oz), 1 skein ea. Substitute Masala (24248) or Stroll Pumpkin (23699) for Twig.
